Objectives of the BLSO

Objectives

Long-term
To spread awareness about, and report on, the military regime's oppression and exploitation of Burmese workers.

To encourage the support of the international community and organizations in order to pressure the Burmese military regime to guarantee labor rights and the safety of workers.

To promote / encourage a greater understanding of politics, social issues, democracy and human rights in the Burma workers' community.

To encourage mutual understanding and cooperation between internal and external workers to solve their common difficulties.

To accelerate the Burmese democracy movement by using the strength of worker participation.

Short-term
To support Burmese migrant workers working in Mae Sot's factories, provide reliable access to health care, social services, and assistance for religious practices.

To strive for unity among the Burmese workers in Mae Sot, Thailand.

read books, study, discuss, and share their knowledge with each other.

To encourage mutual understanding and cooperation between internal and external workers to solve their common difficulties.

To support the struggle for democracy and human rights in Burma.
